On Sunday, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) uncovered Team India’s new T20I kit. The same will be worn by the players at the T20 World Cup 2022, starting October 16 in Australia.
It was launched in the presence of many Indian cricket fans at a Mumbai event. The event was however organised by kit sponsors MPL Sports.
The new Team India jersey embodies shades of sky blue and some portions also had shades of deep blue colour. It’s called ‘har fan ki jersey.’ The name itself let the fans know the meaning that this outfit belonged to the millions of Indian cricket fans who are the biggest ambassadors of Indian cricket.
The official social media handle of BCCI and MPL Sports shared the first glimpse of the kit. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur, Hardik Pandya, Shafali Verma, Suryakumar Yadava and Renuka Singh could be seen sporting the newly launched jersey.
“To every cricket fan out there, this one’s for you. Presenting the all-new T20 Jersey – One Blue Jersey by @mpl_sport. #HarFanKiJersey #TeamIndia #MPLSports #CricketFandom,” the BCCI tweeted.
Again, a fan-made account dedicated to Indian captain Rohit Sharma also posted pictures starring the cricketers featuring the new kit.
BCCI previously also dropped a hint about the change in the Indian jersey on their official Twitter profile earlier this week. Notably, this is the second time that Team India will see a change in the kit within a year. In October last year, the BCCI introduced a ‘Billion Cheers Jersey’ ahead of the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Previously on Saturday, ace India batter Virat Kohli lighted in Punjab for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia. He recently came back to form by ending his 1020-day century drought in India’s last T20I match against Afghanistan at the Asia Cup 2022. He hit two fifties in the tournament and notched up his 71st international century.
The team will wear the new kit on Tuesday in Mohali when it takes on Australia in the first of three T20Is. Following the three-match T20I series, India will take on South Africa in another three T20Is before the side travels to Australia for the T20 World Cup.
