Rohit Sharma, the captain of Indian team gave a crucial update about Virat Kohli’s promotion at the opening stance in the T20 World Cup 2022. Virat Kohli recently scored a fantastic century against Afghanistan in Asia Cup 2022. And especially he made it while opening the innings, so many cricket exports wanted him to open in the T20 World Cup.
This would be really interesting stuff if he opens with the captain Rohit Sharma because then a totally new equation would be seen in the batting order. Suryakumar Yadav could be promoted to number 3 if Kohli bats at the opening position. But KL Rahul will have to go in the middle order which is not his natural playing stance in the line-up. Still, this does not seem to be a possibility as a last time change in the strategy can cost a big dent in the future.

The Indian team will play a three match T20I series against Australia before the T20 WC, which will start from September 20. If Virat Kohli comes as an opener in that whole series, then it will be a strong possibility for the T20 World Cup also. The star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami knocked from the series due to Covid-19 infection so the responsibility will be on young shoulders of Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar.
The captain of Indian team Rohit Sharma recently talked about Virat Kohli in the pre-series press conference on Sunday. In which he said, “For us, we understand the quality of all our players and what they bring for us. But yeah, it is an option (Virat Kohli opening) for us, we will always keep that in mind. Since we have not taken a third opener, he opens for his franchise in the IPL and he has done really well, so it is a definite option for us.”
