
For youngsters who are struggling in the domestic stage playing for their country is a dream, and those who are playing in the squad are familiar with what level of responsibility they are holding with them but there is some incident that makes them choose between two responsibilities that are totally equal to them. Cricket is an uncertain game so as life is, we’ve seen players many players getting severe injuries, and unfortunately, many of them have lost their lives while playing. In our Cricket Diaries, we will some tragic moments from which players have suffered during any tournament or series.
Some players have suffered from some serious issues that made them leave the side at that moment whether it was any big tournament or any bilateral series. In this article, we’ll talk about those Indian players who’ve left the squad instantly for some tragic incidents during any series or tournament.
Sachin Tendulkar
God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar faced a tragic situation in 1999 during the World Cup in England when his father Late Ramesh Tendulkar passed away in Mumbai. Sachin was in the Indian squad attending the World Cup in England when he heard the news about his father’s demise. He suddenly left for India to attend the funeral of his father and to take a last look at him. Sachin was so close to his father and her demise really shook him but he knew besides this he had another duty of playing for the country he later joined the team again and made a wonderful century against Kenya which made India qualify for the seminal. Sachin’s father Late Ramesh Tendulkar was an Indian Marathi Poet and Novelist.
Virat Kohli
Current star batter from the Indian team, Virat Kohli has gone through the same patch as Sachin Tendulkar in his domestic career when he was playing Ranji Trophy for Delhi in 2006. He was 17 years old and playing the Ranji Trophy for Delhi when he lost he lost his father. In an interview, his teammate at that match Ishant Sharma mentioned that he(Virat Kohli) was mentally so strong that he was looking like he was so sad the next day his father passed away but he batted and scored 80 runs. Which was so inspiring, he knew that if his father was alive he would never loved him sitting and crying and doing what he was supposed to do. Mohammad Siraj
Indian seamer Mohammad Siraj who became a sensation in the last few years has also been through heartbreaking moments while playing for his country. He was playing the border Gavaskar trophy in Australia in 2020 when he heard the news, he was close to his father and his demise left him in trauma but he couldn’t attend the funeral due to the pandemic. He later told that the next of his father passed away he went to practice and Coach Ravi Shastri said you have your dad’s blessing, later he took five five-wicket haul in Hyderabad and dedicated it to his late father.
Rishabh Pant
Wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant lost his father Rajendra Pant in 2017 while he was playing IPL. In the next game against Delhi Daredevil (later renamed as Delhi Capitals), he scored a half-century and was dedicated to his late father. Rishabh Pant’s ex-assistant coach later revealed that ‘he was shattered after getting the news but he is mentally strong he came back again after two days and scored a magnificent fifty’.
At the end of last year, Rishabh Pant got into a car collision on the road which led him to serious injuries, that shocked the whole world especially his teammates and his fans because everyone knew if they didn’t get well soon team’s gonna miss him in the world cup. He is still recovering and everyone hopes that he can come back next year or at the end of this year, from our Cricket Diaries we all wish him a healthy and fast recovery.
