Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman Kusal Mendis was transported to the hospital after experiencing cramps following his remarkable innings against Pakistan in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

In a statement, Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed, “Kusal Mendis was taken to the hospital after the player suffered cramps upon returning from the field after his brilliant knock of 122 runs from 77 balls in the ongoing game vs. Pakistan.”

As a result of Mendis’s health condition, Dushan Hemantha took his place on the field, while Sadeera Samarawickrama assumed the wicketkeeping duties during his absence.

Mendis showcased his exceptional batting prowess in this match, marking the second consecutive game in which he played a stellar role, scoring a magnificent century. His innings, combined with Samarawickrama’s century (108), propelled Sri Lanka to a total of 344 runs against Pakistan in the first innings.
