New Zealand defeated Netherlands by a big margin of 99 runs in their second match of the Cricket World Cup 2023, continuing their winning start to the tournament.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, New Zealand put up a big total of 322 runs in their 50 overs, with Will Young, Rachin Ravindra and Tom Latham all scoring half-centuries. Mitchell Santner and Daryl Mitchell also made significant contributions with the bat.
The Netherlands bowlers tried their best to contain the New Zealand batsmen, but they were unable to do so for long periods of time. Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren and Roelof van der Merwe all picked up two wickets each, but it was not enough to stop New Zealand from posting a big total.

In reply, Netherlands got off to a good start with their openers Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd putting on a 55-run partnership. However, they lost their way after that and lost wickets at regular intervals. Bas de Leede and Colin Ackermann tried to rebuild the innings, but they were unable to maintain a good run rate. Netherlands were eventually bowled out for 223 runs in 46 overs, losing the match by 99 runs.
Mitchell Santner was the star performer for New Zealand with the ball, picking up four wickets for 40 runs. Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson also picked up two wickets each.
With this victory, New Zealand moved to the top of Group A with two wins from two matches. Netherlands, on the other hand, remained at the bottom of the group with two losses from two matches.
