The former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra recently shared his expert opinions with BCCI regarding the one loophole in the spin circle of Indian balling team. This concern was raised many times in the past, but the victory cover didn’t come forth properly. According to Chopra, the probable combination which will appear for team India in the T20 World Cup 2022 has only one legitimate wicket taker, Yuzvendra Chahal. The rest of the two bowlers who are Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi are the defensive bowlers who cannot provide critical breakthroughs uniformly.
Initially in the analysis video of the Indian T20 team, Aakash Chopra pointed that Yuzvendra Chahal was the only wicket taker in the spin department of India. He highlighted that, “You have picked three spinners – an offspinner, a leg spinner and a left-arm spinner. So, you have picked different-different options, but Yuzvendra Chahal is the only legit wicket-taking option in T20 cricket”.
Further he tried to opt for a lone spinner who will play along with Chahal in the T20 World Cup 2022, “The others are defensive options – make no mistake, that is the truth. You can see the numbers for the last 12 months, IPL included for both of them – Axar and Ravichandran Ashwin”.
Later he contemplated on the effective leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi and also criticized the selectors for totally discarding the Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav from the selection scenario, “Ravi Bishnoi was a tempting option available to you. You are not thinking about Kuldeep at all, which is slightly disappointing, but he could also have been a wicket-taking option. But you didn’t think about either of them.”
“It will be very interesting whether you will be able to play two out of the three spinners in the XI. Will you be able to play either Axar or Ravi (Ashwin) along with Yuzi Chahal – that’s going to be a big one.”
