The highly-anticipated World Cup 2023 is set to kick off soon, with the opening match scheduled between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 5. One of the burning questions on cricket enthusiasts’ minds is, “Who will emerge as the highest run-scorer in the tournament?” AB de Villiers, the former South African cricketer, has weighed in on this topic with an intriguing prediction – he believes Shubman Gill will be the player to watch when it comes to accumulating the most runs during the World Cup 2023.
Sharing his thoughts on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers expressed his confidence in Shubman Gill’s potential, stating, “Shubman Gill will be the highest run-scorer in the World Cup this year. He is in great form. I always go with the batsman who opens. Sometimes with the person batting at number three. Shubman is a great player and his technique too. He will play the World Cup at his home. Yes, there will be some pressure there. But I am picking them.”
