The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the warm-up match schedule for the forthcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, slated to be hosted in India. The ODI World Cup 2023 is set to commence on October 5 and will conclude on November 19.
The inaugural match of the ODI World Cup 2023 is scheduled for October 5, featuring a clash between the finalists of the previous World Cup, New Zealand and England. This momentous match will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The grand finale of the tournament is also set to be held at the same venue on November 19. Additionally, the high-octane contest between India and Pakistan will unfold on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Preceding the main event, the warm-up matches are scheduled to be conducted across three Indian cities – Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, and Hyderabad – from September 29 to October 3. Over the course of four days, each of the ten participating teams will engage in two warm-up encounters.
The ICC has announced that these warm-up matches will commence at 2:00 pm IST. During these fixtures, all ten teams will be permitted to field their complete squads of 15 players, enabling them to prepare extensively for the main competition. Although the warm-up matches will follow the 50-overs-a-side format, they will not be granted official ODI status.
