The Indian men’s blind cricket team defeats Bangladesh by 3 wickets, while the women’s team triumphs over Australia by 163 runs in the ongoing International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games 2023 in Birmingham.

In a remarkable display of skill and determination, both the Indian men’s and women’s blind cricket teams secured victories at the ongoing International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games 2023 in Birmingham.

The Indian men’s blind cricket team clinched a thrilling victory by 3 wickets against Bangladesh. Despite a challenging start, India’s experienced players showcased their prowess, with notable contributions from Nareshbhai Balubhai Tumda (28), Sunil Ramesh (20), and vice-captain Venkateswara Rao Dunna (30). Leveraging the situation to their advantage, the Men In Blue capitalized on Bangladesh’s penalty of 26 runs, achieving a total score of 165/7 in 17 overs.

On the women’s side, India’s performance was equally stellar as they defeated Australia by a remarkable margin of 163 runs. Opting to bat first, the Indian batters took charge right from the powerplay, accumulating 51 runs. Gangavva H, batting at number 4, continued her impressive form by scoring 69 runs off 45 balls. Simu Das played aggressively, contributing 86 runs from just 39 balls. This combined effort propelled India to a formidable total of 245/2 in the allotted 20 overs.

Chasing the target of 246, the Australian team struggled to match India’s performance, managing a total of 82 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. This dominant victory marked the second time the Women in Blue outperformed their Australian counterparts in the tournament.

With these victories, the Indian women’s blind cricket team is now set to face England in their next match on Thursday.
