In a video shared by the BCCI, led by captain Jasprit Bumrah, the cricketers were gathered in front of a screen, witnessing Chandrayaan-3’s safe landing and erupting in cheers.

Indian cricket fraternity like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and other cricketers also conveyed their congratulations for this achievement.

Kohli tweeted, “Congratulations to the #Chandrayaan3 team. You have made the nation proud Jai Hind!” Gill’s post said, “Kudos to the brilliant minds at @ISRO for their extraordinary achievement! Congratulations to the #Chandrayaan3 team for their outstanding accomplishment!”

India’s cricket captain Rohit Sharma expressed his pride, saying, “The first nation to reach the lunar south pole. That sounds amazing. A proud moment for all of us & congratulations to @isro for their hard work.”

Virender Sehwag tweeted “As we were approaching Sunset, Moon ke South Pole par hum set. What a glorious moment. Just proves, after every setback is a stronger comeback . Some naysayers who want Bharat to fail, some of them living in India as well will have some sleepless nights. #Chandrayaan3″

MS Dhoni’s daughter also reacted to the Chandrayaan-3 landing on moon.

On this historic day, ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 Lander Module (LM) successfully landed on the Moon’s surface, making India the fourth country to achieve this feat and the first to reach the unexplored south pole of the Moon.

Boosting India’s space capabilities, the LM, consisting of the lander (Vikram) and a 26 kg rover (Pragyan), softly touched down near the Moon’s south pole at 6:04 pm, less than a week after a Russian lander had crashed.

With this achievement on the Moon’s surface during its second attempt in four years, India has joined the US, China, and the former Soviet Union as the fourth country to master the technology of landing softly on the Moon.

Chandrayaan-3 follows Chandrayaan-2 and aims to demonstrate safe landing, moon roving, and in-situ scientific experiments.

Chandrayaan-2 faced a setback in its lunar phase when its lander ‘Vikram’ crashed during the touchdown attempt in September 2019 due to braking system anomalies. Chandrayaan’s first mission was in 2008.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission, costing Rs 600 crore, was launched on July 14 using Launch Vehicle Mark-III (LVM-3) rocket for a 41-day journey to the lunar south pole.

This achievement comes shortly after Russia’s Luna-25 spacecraft crashed into the Moon due to loss of control.
