India Women’s Blind Cricket Team Triumphs Over Australia, Men’s Team Suffers Defeat Against Pakistan at IBSA World Games

The Indian women’s blind cricket team secures a dominant win against Australia, while the men’s team faces a defeat against Pakistan at IBSA World Games.

In a contrasting performance at the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games 2023 in Birmingham, the Indian women’s blind cricket team marked a triumphant victory against Australia, while the men’s team faced a heartbreaking defeat against Pakistan.

The Indian men’s blind cricket team experienced a nail-biting defeat in their opening match against Pakistan, leaving the Men In Blue short of victory by 18 runs. Despite a valiant effort, India fell short of the target of 188 runs set by Pakistan, needing 34 runs in the last two overs with 4 wickets in hand.

In contrast, the Indian women’s blind cricket team showcased their dominance by thrashing Australia in their opening match, securing an eight-wicket win. After restricting Australia to a total of 59/6 in their allotted 20 overs, the Women in Blue chased down the target in just 6.5 overs.

The Indian women’s team won the toss and chose to field, putting Australia on the defensive from the start. Australia struggled to maintain their innings as they lost wickets at regular intervals, ultimately finishing at 59/6.

On the other hand, the Indian men’s team faced a challenging task while chasing Pakistan’s target of 188. Despite a strong start, India fell short of the required runs, with Sunil Ramesh’s heroic innings of 62 runs in 40 balls not being enough to secure victory.

The IBSA World Games marked a historic moment as the first-ever cricket match was played at the event on Saturday, with Australia defeating England by 7 wickets. The Indian men’s blind cricket team is set to face Australia in their upcoming match, while the women’s team is scheduled to play against England in the IBSA World Games 2023.
