Cricket fans rejoiced as India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was spotted batting in a club match in Bengaluru for the first time since his auto accident.

In a video that is making the rounds on the social networking platform X, Pant can be seen boldly making his way down the pitch to strike the ball beyond the goals, to the loud applause of the crowd.

The 25-year-old, who has been recovering at the NCA in Bengaluru, attended a JSW foundation Independence Day programme where he also gave a speech.

“I feel once you keep growing older, you stop loving the game. One of the reasons is that there is a lot of pressure; you want to excel in life and do this and that. “But enjoyment nahi miss karna hein life mein, (Don’t miss enjoyment in life),” Pant said in a video shared by Sangita Jindal, chairperson of JSW Foundation.

Pant amazingly survived when his Mercedes hit a divider and caught fire on the Delhi-Dehradun highway as he was travelling to his hometown of Roorkee in December of last year.

Additionally, he underwent ligament surgery earlier this year as a result of numerous injuries he sustained in a car accident.

The BCCI reported in their update on Pant last month that the wicketkeeper-batsman had made excellent progress in his recovery and had started to bat and keep in the nets.

“He (Pant) has made significant progress in his rehabilitation and has commenced batting as well as keeping in the nets. He is currently following a fitness programme designed for him which includes strength, flexibility and running,” the BCCI had said.
