In a thrilling anticipation of the upcoming home series against South Africa, Pakistan’s women’s cricket teams have revealed their 15-member squads for the white-ball series. A notable highlight is the comeback of star pacer Diana Baig, who has successfully recovered from a finger injury.
The exciting series comprises three T20Is and three ODIs, with the ODIs being a part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25. The much-anticipated matches are scheduled from September 1 to 14 and will unfold at the vibrant National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
The return of Diana Baig, who has been sidelined due to a finger injury for over six months, is expected to fortify Pakistan’s squad. Baig sustained the injury during a One-Day International against Australia in January this year.
A fresh inclusion in the T20I squad is the 18-year-old talent Shawaal Zulfiqar. Her remarkable performance has earned her a spot not only in the T20I squad but also in Pakistan’s lineup for the upcoming Asian Games.
Adding to the excitement, leg-spinner Syeda Aroob Shah makes a comeback in the T20I team after an absence of over three years. Her last appearance for Pakistan was in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020.
The T20I side also sees the return of all-rounder Natalia Parvez, who last featured in 2018, and uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Najiha Alvi.
In the ODI squad, Umm-e-Hani and Waheeda Akhtar have been included, replacing Ayesha Naseem and Kainat Imtiaz. The squads will be led by experienced all-rounder Nida Dar, who took over the captaincy from Bismah Maroof after the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in February this year.
With the stage set and anticipation building, fans can look forward to a thrilling cricket series showcasing Pakistan’s emerging talents and experienced players.
