ODI Men’s World Cup: India-Pakistan match in Ahmedabad officially rescheduled to October 14

The highly-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan at the 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was rescheduled to October 14 by International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday changed the date of the highly awaited match between India and Pakistan at the 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to October 14.

This news follows the announcement that the tournament’s most-watched match has been moved from its original date of October 15 to today because that date coincided with the first day of Navaratri, a significant nine-day Hindu festival, and Ahmedabad local police had expressed concerns about providing adequate security on that day.

In addition to the India-Pakistan match, eight other matchups’ specifics have been modified in the tournament’s most recent amended schedule, which was announced on Wednesday.

The match between Afghanistan and the reigning champions England at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi will now take place on October 15, rather than the original date of October 14, as a result of the change in the schedule of the India-Pakistan match.

The match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Hyderabad has been rescheduled from October 12 to October 10. On the other hand, the crucial match between Australia and South Africa in Lucknow has been postponed by one day and will now take place on October 12 rather than October 13.

The day match between New Zealand and Bangladesh that was initially slated to take place on October 14 in Chennai has been postponed by one day and will now take place on October 13 as a day-night match. The October 10 encounter between England and Bangladesh at Dharamsala is now a day game with a 10:30am start time rather than the previous day-night matchup.

Australia vs. Bangladesh in Pune at 10:30 a.m. and England vs. Pakistan in Kolkata at 2:00 p.m. were originally slated to play on November 12, but were shifted a day earlier to November 11. It happens after it was suggested that the date of the England-Pakistan match be moved because it would conflict with the city’s Kali Puja.

The World Cup begins on October 5 with a match between the 2019 champions England and New Zealand in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, and it concludes on November 19 with the championship match there.

The fans will have the chance to register their interest on the tournament’s official website starting on August 15 before tickets go on sale in stages beginning on August 25.
