Tilak Varma attributes his first T20 half-century to the mentorship of Rohit Sharma and the experience gained from IPL. He also expresses his bond with Rohit’s daughter and discusses his conversations with Rahul Dravid.

Tilak Varma, a 20-year-old cricketer from India, scored his first T20 half-century and acknowledged that his success was greatly influenced by the guidance of Rohit Sharma and the valuable experience gained from playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). During the second T20 match in Trinidad, Tilak scored an impressive 51 runs off 41 deliveries, including five fours and a six. He shared how Rohit Sharma, his teammate in the IPL, boosted his confidence by calling him an all-format cricketer. Tilak also revealed that he dedicates his celebration after reaching a milestone to Rohit’s daughter, Samaira, with whom he shares a close bond.

Tilak Varma also talked about his discussions with Team India coach Rahul Dravid, who has been his coach even during Under-19 cricket. Rahul Dravid advised him to follow his basics and spend more time at the wicket while enjoying the game. The young cricketer credited the IPL for being a turning point in his career, as it helped him perform well and secure a place in the Indian team. Despite Tilak’s maiden T20I half-century, India lost the match as Nicholas Pooran’s brilliant knock helped West Indies achieve a 2-0 advantage in the five-match series.

The upcoming third T20 match provides an opportunity for India to bounce back and turn the series in their favor. It is scheduled to take place at Providence Stadium on Monday.
