Zim Afro T10: Stats and records from the first season

Zim Afro T10 just finished its first season. Durban Qalandars defeated Joburg Buffaloes in the finals to win the trophy. Here are the stats from the tournament.

Durban Qalandars won the championship in Zim Afro T10’s inaugural season. The five-team tournament’s runner-up was Johannesburg Buffaloes. The statistics and records from the inaugural season will be examined in this article.

The player with the most runs scored in Zim Afro T10 was Rahmanullah Gurbaz. The Afghan wicketkeeper-batsman, age 21, scored 282 runs in nine games. His season featured 26 sixes and 18 fours, and he played at a high strike rate of 195.83. 

Tim Seifert

Another batter who is a wicketkeeper is included on this list. The second-highest run scorer was a 28-year-old New Zealander named Tim Seifert. Seifert had a strike rate of 205.30 while scoring 271 runs in 11 games. He smacked 20 sixes and 25 fours.

Hazrattulah Zazai

In his brief career, Hazrattulah Zazai has established a reputation for having a high strike rate. His inclusion on this list comes as no surprise. Zazai had a strike rate of 156.98 while scoring 270 runs in 10 games. 

Highest Batting Strike Rate

Karim Janat

In the competition, Karim Janat had the best batting strike rate. The Afghan all-rounder scored 152 runs with a strike rate of 220.29 in nine games. He scored 21 runs, including 13 sixes and eight fours. 

Asif Ali

With a strike rate of 211.70, Asif Ali is second on this list. The Pakistani hitter, who is quite explosive, scored 199 runs. He hit 19 sixes and eight fours.

Ravi Bopara

Third on this list is England’s seasoned batting all-rounder. In May 2023, Ravi Bopara, who is renowned for his tremendous striking ability, broke all records by scoring 144 runs in only 49 balls. Bopara scored 109 runs at a strike rate of 209.62 in Zim Afro T10.

Most Wickets

Brad Evans

Zimbabwean Brad Evans, a hometown hero, tops the chart for most wickets taken in the competition. He got 14 wickets in 11 games, with a 16.07 bowling average. His four wickets for 16 runs against the Harare Hurricanes was his best bowling performance in the competition.

Mohammad Hafeez

The second name on this list is the seasoned all-rounder from Pakistan. Mohammad Hafeez, 42, had a bowling average of 11.58 while taking 12 wickets. Even better, he picked up 6 wickets against the Joburg Buffaloes while only conceding 4 runs, recording the best bowling figures of the competition.

Tendai Chatara

Another cricket player from Zimbabwe is third on the list. Tendai Chatara had a bowling average of 18.50 while taking 12 wickets in 11 games. He had his greatest bowling performance against the Bulawayo Braves, taking 3 wickets while only giving up 9 runs.

Best Economy

Sheldon Cottrell

The most economical bowler in the competition was Sheldon Cottrell. After bowling 13.1 overs, his economy was 7.21. In seven games, he only managed to take four wickets, demonstrating his ineffectiveness as a wicket-taker.

Taksin Ahmed

Taksin Ahmed featured in seven games, taking 11 wickets while maintaining an outstanding economy rate of only 7.21 RPO. 

Noor Ahmad

Noor Ahmad is the most recent Afghan mystery spinner. Noor had an economy of 8.50 RPO when bowling. He continued his form in Zim Afro T10 after dashing expectations in the IPL among fans and critics.
