The India tour of West Indies will start tomorrow and the Indian team will be playing after a one-month break. Tests

Many controversies were brought about by the announcement of the Indian test team. Four openers were chosen, but Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has consistently performed for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and on India A tours, was not one of them. Along with the veteran Cheteshwar Pujara, who was dropped from the team, Sarfaraz Khan was another noticeable omission from the lineup. Ajinkya Rahane was selected vice-captain for the trip after making his return to the test team after more than a year in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final.

Performers from the Indian Premier League were largely disregarded when the Indian T20I squad was recently announced. Despite the T20Is being perhaps his greatest format, Ruturaj Gaikwad was not selected for the team on the other hand he was picked in the test team. Players like Jitesh Sharma and Rinku Singh went unnoticed. Despite recent IPL seasons being average, Ishan Kishan was selected. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were not re-selected for the team. The veteran duo’s final match was in the 10-wicket loss to England in the semifinal of the T20 World Cup.
