From Babar, Kohli to Smith, Williamson who has better captaincy skill-set

International cricket is gradually shifting towards the 0hase where elegant and intense skill sets are required in every aspect of the game without it and an individual couldn’t survive the cut throat competition which is flourishing rapidly at the stage of world cricket. Along with batting, bowling and fielding captaincy is the prime aspect which is getting higher and higher importance in international cricket nowadays.

The current top 4 batsman of international stage i.e Babar Azam, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson all have lead their National sides so below is a short analysis drawn on their journey of captaincy in international cricket.

#1.Virat Kohli – Kane Williamson.

The star Indian batsman Virat Kohli along with the New Zealand veteran Kane Williamson are placed at the same stance because the leadership style of both these modern day greats are very much similar to each other. Virat Kohli always likes to keep an attacking field to build pressure on the opposition batters which the New Zealand captain Williamson also used to do, especially in T20 cricket where nobody expects to place aggressive fields as the run flow restriction is the demand of the format.

Along with this, Virat and Kane always want to keep a consistent bowling attack not like many modern skippers who used to keep rotating the bowlers in the thought that it will not give a chance to the batter to settle down in the same kind of bowling. But tactically it is a wrong move as the bowlers don’t get a chance to fit themselves in a consistent rhythm which will ultimately curbed the outpouring of their best performance in the specific match at international cricket.

#2. Steve Smith – Babar Azam.

The leadership style of the current Pakistani skipper Babar Azam and the star Australian batsman Steve Smith is highly identical to each other. Both the players are very expert in anticipating the move of the batsman so Babar and Smith always use to set the field as per the mindset of a batter.

But the one controversy which remains with both these greats is the team selection and the cherry picking of proper 11 as per the circumstances of any crucial game, in which they are going to lead their side. As per their natural calm playing tempo, their captaincy also lacks the eye-catchy aggression of captaincy like Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson. This flaw could be considered as the negative quality in their skill set of leadership.
