In their Asia Cup Group A match on Sunday against bitter rival Pakistan, Team India prevailed. India won the match by five wickets thanks in large part to Hardik Pandya, who scored an unbeaten 33 runs off just 17 balls. But Ravindra Jadeja also made a significant contribution, scoring 35 runs off only 29 balls while hitting two fours and two sixes. 52 runs were scored in partnership by Jadeja and Hardik for the fifth wicket. After the game, Jadeja had to be interviewed by former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar for his post-match duties.
He ultimately decided to start by asking Jadeja if the left-handed batter could speak to him. It’s crucial to remember that Manjrekar referred to Jadeja as “bits and pieces” during the 2019 World Cup, after which Jadeja criticised the former India batter on social media, writing: “Still I have played twice as many matches as you have played, and I’m still playing. Accomplished people should be respected. It’s enough of your verbal diarrhoea, I’m sorry. @sanjaymanjrekar.”
Manjrekar began his conversation with Jadeja about the game between India and Pakistan by asking: “I have Ravindra Jadeja here with me, first question, you are okay to talk to me Jaddu right?”
In response, Jadeja said: “Yes, indeed. Absolutely. I don’t experience any issues.” Jadeja and Manjrekar were both inconsolable after that response.
Jadeja continued by addressing the game as follows: “They have a strong bowling attack, and their fast bowlers don’t give anything away, so we wanted to play all the way to the end. I had a chance to win the game, but Hardik played outstandingly. I’m glad that Pandya stayed until the end because he came out and said he was going to play his shots with great clarity.”
As India bowled out Pakistan for 147, Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned with figures of 4-26 in his four overs. In the third over of the innings, the seasoned seamer also secured Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s crucial breakthrough.
On Wednesday, Team India’s next matchup will be against Hong Kong in Group A.
