1. Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat, the left-arm seamer, recently returned to the Indian team after a 12-year absence. He played in the second Test against Bangladesh in December 2022, as well as the February-March 2023 India-Australia Test series. On April 30, Unadkat suffered a shoulder injury while bowling in the nets. He then underwent scans in Mumbai and met with the BCCI’s medical staff. Regrettably, the 31-year-old has been ruled out of the IPL 2023 and is unlikely to recover in time for the World Tour Championship final. He is expected to begin his rehabilitation at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy.

2. Shreyas Iyer

In March 2023, Shreyas Iyer last participated in the fourth Test match between India and Australia. He did not bat, however, as a result of ongoing back problems that have bothered him all year. The 28-year-old initially chose not to have surgery and concentrated on recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Iyer would have back surgery in London the last week of April, according to a BCCI update published in April. Iyer will miss the WTC final because it will take him three months to fully recover from the successful surgery.

3. Rishabh Pant

Unfortunately, Rishabh Pant, who is renowned for his extraordinary performances, especially his valiant innings at the Gabba, won’t be at the WTC final. Pant was seriously injured in a car accident on December 30, 2022, while en route from Delhi to Roorkee. Pant miraculously escaped the burning car after it collided with a divider but suffered serious wounds. The young cricketer is currently receiving treatment at the National Cricket Academy in anticipation of rejoining the team soon.

4. Jasprit Bumrah

The renowned fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action since September 2022 due to a stress fracture. He just had surgery in New Zealand, and now he’s starting a six-week rehab programme at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy. Despite playing a significant role in India’s Test team for the past five years, Bumrah will regrettably not be included in the World Test Championship 2023 Final squad. In the summit match between India and Australia, his absence will be keenly felt. Prior to the ODI World Cup 2023, which is slated to take place in India from October to November, the BCCI is doing everything possible to ensure Bumrah’s fitness.

5. KL Rahul

KL In the IPL 2023 match between the Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rahul, the team’s star batter and captain, suffered a hamstring injury while fielding. Rahul bravely entered the game to bat for his struggling team despite the injury, but he had trouble running and had to turn down singles. Rahul left for Mumbai after the game against CSK for scans, which resulted in his exclusion from the IPL 2023. The next step, to be decided by the BCCI, will depend on how serious the injury is.
