Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face off in the first qualifier for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. This intriguing match will take place on Tuesday, May 23 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
The Titans have been unbeatable this season, finishing at the top of the standings for the second straight year. The defending champions ended the league stage with 20 points after winning ten of their fourteen games and losing four.
On Sunday, May 21, GT faced Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and their bowlers struggled to keep the scoring rate under control. RCB posted a massive total of 197/5, thanks to a magnificent century from Virat Kohli, who struck 101 runs off just 61 balls lls at a strike rate of 165.57.

In response, Shubman Gill (104 off 52 balls) hit his second century of the season to help the team reach the target with five balls to spare.
Following a dismal season the previous year, CSK turned things around in spectacular fashion, finishing just one spot below GT in the points table. The Super Kings finished the season with 17 points after winning eight of their fourteen games and losing five.
CSK won easily against the Delhi Capitals in their most recent match. Batting first, Ruturaj Gaikwad (79) and Devon Conway (87) helped the Super Kings get off to a flying start in the powerplay, leading to a mammoth score of 223/3.
Later, Deepak Chahar annihilated the Capitals’ batting order, assisting the club to a 77-run triumph. Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana each took two wickets.
