The Lucknow Super Giants stepped up their game when it counted the most, defeating the five-time champion Mumbai Indians to advance to the IPL 2023 playoffs. Mohsin Khan made a strong recovery after a long injury layoff, defending 11 runs off the penultimate over against the destructive Tim David to help Lucknow Super Giants beat Mumbai Indians by five runs in the IPL on Tuesday.
Marcus Stoinis displayed raw power on his way to an unbeaten 89 off 47 balls as LSG recovered from a shaky start to record 177 for three after Mumbai chose to bowl. Mumbai were on track for a comfortable win until they faltered in the second part of their innings, finishing with 172 for five in 20 overs.
Mohsin, who missed the entire domestic season due to a shoulder injury, helped LSG take a significant step closer to a top-four finish by remaining calm in the last over. Despite the setback, Mumbai remains in contention for a play-off position.
