Few young Indian cricketers of today are ruling the cricket world in their respective playing zones. The names like Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan and Ravi Bishnoi are the emerging players of India who are establishing themselves in international cricket. But many of them were kids when MS Dhoni leading Indian team won the 2011 world cup. Prithvi Shaw who was the captain of U-19 World Cup winning team, didn’t even initiate his professional cricket career in 2011.
Above mentioned cricketers crafted successful international careers in less than 10 years of playing, where they polished their respective skill set. So here are the top three names who were just kids when the Indian team won the 2011 World Cup.
#1. Shubman Gill.
Shubman Gill, a 23-year-old cricketer, recently smashed his maiden international ton against Zimbabwe. He played in 11 test matches and 7 one-day international games for Indian team. In the historic test match of Gabba, where Indian team was chasing the total of 330 runs on day 5, Shubman Gill played a crucial knock of 91 runs. These figures were one of the biggest contributions in the victory of the Indian team in the test match. He was just 12-year-old when the Indian team won the 2011 world cup after beating Sri Lanka in the finals.
#2. Prithvi Shaw
Prithvi Shaw started his international career on a golden note. He made his maiden international century on his test debut against West Indies. He played six test matches and five one-day International and one T20I game for India in the past 2 years. His T20 debut was totally forgettable as he got dismissed on a golden duck in it. When the Indian team clinched their second 50 over world cup victory in 2011, he was just an 11-year-old kid.
#3. Umran Malik
The young Indian fast bowler Umran Malik was just 11-year-old when the historic World Cup victory of 2011 came in the favour of the Indian team. Malik already listed his name as the fastest bowler of the country, after he bowled a delivery of 154 kmph in the last edition of Indian Premier League. This is the fastest ball bowled by any Indian fast bowler which the country cricket produced in its history. In the year 2011 Malik didn’t even start playing cricket. He said in his recent interviews that the 2011 world cup victory encouraged him to be one of the successful cricketers of the Indian team.
