We all know how big asset Virat Kohli is for the team India and in the past 15 years he has proved his legacy to world cricket. In his cricketing career he has played so many great innings which were enough to put him in the room of legends but he is destined to do something extraordinary which is making his team win against every  possible odds. The title of chase master that he got from his fans and cricket experts is not because of any one inning or any specific moment where he turned the whole world upside down but he made it his habit whenever his team needed a leader, Virat Kohli put a step forward to take up the challenge. There are so many innings which helped him to get the title so we are going to list the top three ODI innings where he led his team in chase and decided to dominate the other team.

122 vs England 2017 

In the first ODI of 3 matches ODI series against England virat kohli showed his skills and chased down the monstrous total along with Kedar Jadhav. In that game India won the toss and decided to field first where English players proved the decision wrong by hanging a total of 350 runs on the board. While chasing India lost 4 big wickets including Virat Kohli within the score of just 64 runs, fans started leaving the seats with teary eyes and sad faces. Those who were still present in the ground just have hopes in their heart because Virat Kohli was there in the pitch fighting against english pace attack. Virat kohli made a partnership of 200 runs with Kedar Jadhav and made a thrashing 122 runs in 105 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes his inning helped india to restrain and put the pressure back on england. That game is known for Kedar jadhav’s inning of 120 in just 76 innings but Virat’s having Virat kohli alongside Kedar Jadhav helped him to handle the pressure and made India chase down the target. 

133* VS Sri Lanka 2012 

In a probable knockout game against Sri Lanka in tri series between india, Australia and Sri Lanka, India won the toss and decided to field first but T Dilshan and K Sangakara was in different mood that day both made wonderful centuries and and asked india to chase 321 and to stay alive in the tournament India has to maintain it’s run rate too. When India lost their two most important wickets as Sehwag and Sachin, Virat came forward and decided to do the honors. He played a cracking inning of unbeaten 133 in just 88 balls with 16 boundaries and 2 sixes, along with Gautam Gambhir (63) and Suresh raina (40) he made crucial partnerships and chased down the target in just 36.4 overs.

85 vs Australia 2023 

In the opening game for India in the ODI world cup 2023 he put a stamp on his title ‘chase master’. In this game australia, Rohit Sharma’s luck played against him and India is invited to bowl first where in turning pitch of Chepauk indian spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav didn’t allowed aussies to establish their feet in the ground and stopped them just before a run to complete 200. After taking a look at the target indian players and fans were too happy to make a wonderful start in the tournament but they forgot about the team which are playing against them. Kangaroos made an extraordinary comeback and sent off 3 Indian batters with each having zero individual score, after watching the scorecard which was 2 runs with the loss of 3 which included the Indian captain. Virat kohli again took the responsibility and this time with KL Rahul he played another mesmerizing inning and saved his team from collapse. He got out at 85 but at that time India was totally looking comfortable and needed less than 40 runs to win. Virat kohli’s batting while chasing is totally different where other players struggle to score runs he thrashes the opponent and dominates them.
