Joginder Sharma, a member of Team India’s T20 World Cup team in 2007, announced his retirement from all formats of the game on Friday. After making his debut in 2004, the right-arm bowler appeared in four ODIs and four T20Is, taking one and four wickets respectively. Despite his brief international career, he will be remembered for the dramatic last over against Pakistan in the inaugural T20 World Cup in South Africa.
Joginder Sharma announced his decision on his social media accounts on Friday:

Sharma’s final over in the 2007 T20 World Cup is a defining moment in Indian cricket history. After giving up a six, he came back to eliminate Pakistan’s Misbah Ul Haq, assisting India in becoming global champion.
MS Dhoni, the then-skipper, had stated in various interviews and articles that he trusted Joginder above Harbhajan Singh to deliver the final over. The right-arm fast bowler made his debut against England in a must-win game.
Meanwhile Joginder Sharma has only played sixteen games in the Indian Premier League. He was a Chennai Super Kings player who took 12 wickets and scored 36 runs. He was not sold in 2016 or 2017 since his economy rate of 9.82 did not help him keep his spot on the team. The player is currently employed by the Haryana Police as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
